Organizing to Teach LiteratureIn this chapter, Tchudi and Mitchell discuss all the different aspects and ideas that are part of "teaching literautre" to students. It's a lot more than teaching them to read, or teaching them to understand; Tchudi and Mitchell outline three parts that go into teaching literature: 1, developing reading strategies. 2, interacting with and responding to literature, and 3, learning about the structure, styles, and context of stories (215). In many ELA classes, literature and teaching literature dominates the majority of the course.
